Job Title: BSN Program Faculty Instructor FLSA Status : Exempt Reports to: Program Director/Coordinator Department: Education Salary Grade/Range: Date: 11/5/2025 Summary/Objective As the school places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction, instructors are directly responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives of the particular program in which they teach. These responsibilities require leadership and direction in both academics and workforce areas. Specific duties will include competent instruction and educational planning along with student advising and evaluation. This position receives general guidance and direction from the Program Director/Coordinator, and direct supervision from the Dean of Education. Essential Functions Subject Matter Expert Connects subject matter with related fields in the classroom using relevant examples. Assists in establishing meaningful learning objectives; follows meaningful learning objectives Assists in developing methods measuring student progress towards course objectives fairly. Suggests changes to curriculum, syllabi, textbooks, and other classroom materials, supplies, and equipment. Teaching Teach assigned courses, using approved materials, syllabi, and textbooks. Prepares and distributes syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned courses in accordance with program and school policy. Plans and organizes instruction to maximize student learning. Employs appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students. Modifies, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly, within school guidelines to promote maximum learning. Employs available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, interactive technology, when appropriate. Communication Encourages the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments. Advises students and assists in following up with students who have had attendance and/or academic issues. Provides referrals to Student Services representative beyond the scope of the school. Maintains open communication with campus leadership, faculty, staff, students, and all others. Operational Maintains accurate records of student progress and submits final grades at the completion of each course. Learns and uses technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience, when appropriate. Accurately and completely fulfills administrative responsibilities for the classroom such as attendance and grading. Effectively delivers instruction. Maintains current licensure and/or certification as required. Maintains currency of knowledge through faculty and professional development. Attends scheduled in-services and faculty meetings. Utilizes all required resources such as the student information system and other resources as appropriate. Professionalism Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs and circumstances. Uses the student information system to document all calls and contact with students to maintain the official student record. Provides career etiquette information to students. Maintains professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor any time while at the school. Other duties as assigned. Competencies Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Demonstrate professionalism at all times. Maintain current licensure as required by professional governing bodies. Ability to work efficiently as a team player. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Ability to work efficiently as a team player. Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of field or discipline. Stay current in subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, attending professional meetings, conferences or workshops, continuing education opportunities and in-services. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators as an individual or on a team. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Excellent communication, customer service, problem solving, organization and follow-up skills. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer and PowerPoint. Exhibits initiative, enthusiasm, collegiality, and teamwork in accomplishing the responsibilities of the position. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This is a fully remote position. The characteristics described here are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job from their personal home office or dedicated workspace. The employee must maintain a dedicated, quiet workspace free from excessive distractions to ensure productivity and the confidentiality required for the role. The employee will be required to use standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and printer/scanner. Occasional noise will be experienced from operating standard office equipment and necessary communication tools (e.g., virtual meetings). Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, primarily while working from home. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods; use hands to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and communicate effectively via virtual meetings and teleconferencing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptop, supplies, files). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for reading and working on a computer screen for prolonged periods. Tools and Technology The employee must have reliable access to and proficiency with the following tools and technology, which are essential for successful remote performance: Computer : Employee must provide a personal computer (laptop or desktop) that meets the minimum required specifications as listed below. This computer must be dedicated to work tasks during working hours. Operating Systems - MS Windows 10 or newer - Mac OSX 11 or newer - ChromeBook Browsers - Firefox 75 - Microsoft Edge 118 or newer - Chrome 100 or newer - Safari 13.1.2 or newer Plug-ins - Java SE16 or newer Remote Hardware: The employee must provide a reliable, high-speed internet connection (minimum specified speed, if necessary) and a secure, ergonomically sound workspace. Access to a company-provided laptop/desktop, monitor(s), keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals will be specified separately. Virtual Communication & Collaboration : Daily work requires consistent use of specific platforms to maintain team cohesion and productivity. Proficiency is required in: Video Conferencing Software (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) for regular one-on-one and group meetings. Standard Office Software: Proficiency is required in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or equivalent software for document creation, data analysis, and email correspondence. Specialized Software: Learning Management software, currently Canvas; Student Information System, currently Campus Cloud Travel Required Up to 10% travel may be required. Required education and experience: Minimum of three years work experience as a registered nurse Completion of an approved registered nursing education program in any state, territory, or political subdivision of the United States of America in which a board or legal approving authority regulates nurse licensure and nursing practice and maintains membership in the national council of state boards of nursing. A master's degree; If the individual does not possess a bachelor of science in nursing degree, the master's or other academic degree, including, but not limited to a Ph.D., shall be in nursing; If the individual possesses a bachelor of science in nursing degree, the master's degree may be, but is not required to be, in nursing; and Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio.
